FOTD: Snow Day Edition

Hello Everyone!
I wanted to share with you my "Face of the day". I am currently still snowed in but I have to leave the house today to go pick up some groceries and such. I kept my makeup very simple and cozy.

I decided to go with the Covergirl 3 in 1 foundation today because my face has been so dry and red because of the cold weather this winter. This will give me the coverage I need with out looking over done. I then apply my NARS Light Reflecting Lose Powder to my T-Zone. To set the foundation , I apply the Laura Mercier Eye shadow in "Primrose" ( a shimmery light pink) all over my eye lids. Next I applied a thin coat of Diorshow "Blackout" mascara. Once I finish my eyes, I apply the Cover Girl Cheeker blush to the apple of my cheek. To add a nice radiant glow to skin,  I applied Mary Louminizer by theBalm to the tops of my cheek bones and down my nose. To finish off the look I applied the Sugar Lip Balm by the brand Fresh

The whole look only took about 5 minutes! If you live in Atlanta, I hope you and everyone you know are safe and warm. It has been a crazy 24 hours!

Happy Snow Day from 1660 Apartments!

Top 5 Grammy Makeup Looks 2014

Hello Everyone!
There were some really beautiful looks this year on the Grammy red carpet. Here are some of my favorites:

1. Miley Cyrus

I think Miley's makeup looks absolutely stunning. It enhances all of her natural beauty. That pink lip shade compliments her green eyes perfectly, her skin looks so fresh and youthful and the gold shades on her eyes work well with the pink tones. I also love that the makeup artist kept her brows on the natural side. It compliments the "my face but better" makeup that she rocked on the red carpet this year.

Key products to achieve this look:

2.  Taylor Swift

This look is a great way to wear a silver/black smokey eye.  The gray tones used really enhance how blue her eyes are. I like the combination of gray and pink, it keeps the look uniform. The only critique I have is that I would have toned down the silver thats on the inner corner of her eye. I think its a bit much. Otherwise I think this look is really beautiful and suits her well.

Key products to achieve this look:

3. Kelly Osbourne

I LOVE this look so much. This is such a fun twist on a classic 1940s makeup. Her brows are perfect, I love her winged liner and the lashes are perfection. On top of all of that, this lip color is the PERFECT shade for her. This was probably my favorite makeup look of the night.

Key products to achieve this look:

4. Amber Rose

Amber rose is so stunningly beautiful isn't she? I loved this bronzy gold look on her. Her skin was glowing and the choice to use black liner really made her eyes pop. She also chose to have her tattoo's covered up for this look. The lip color is perfect and the white liner on her waterline really helped to open up her eyes and make them look bigger.

Key products to achieve this look:

5. Rita Ora

I love this bold look for the red carpet. The green and purple compliment each other in such a nice way. I don't think a lot of people can pull off a purple smokey eye on the red carpet but with her gorgeous skin and nude lip I think this works great. The key with this look is that the dark purple shade does not go above the crease of her eye. Also if you can see the stitching around the color of her dress, the purple shade is almost exactly the same as her eye color.

Key products to achieve this look:
  • Laura Mercier Artist Palette 2013
  • Covergirl 3 in 1 Foundation
  • MAC Lipstick "Blankety"

Well I hope you all enjoyed this post and if you are reading this from Atlanta right now HAPPY SNOW DAY :)

I hope this was helpful!

My 2013 Favorites

Hello Everyone!
I have finally been able to sit down and write this post! This has been a wonderful year for me as far as beauty is concerned and I want to thank you all for joining me on this blogging adventure. My blog is officially 1 year old!! Happy Birthday Hopefully Helpful :)

Now lets get to my favorites! These are in no particular order. Also, these are products that I personally discovered in 2013. This does not mean that they were released this year.

1. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

I have fallen in love with this concealer this year. I use it more as a highlighting concealer on my cheek bones, down the center of my nose, under my eyes and around my nose. The coverage is pretty good and it definitely brightens up my face. Plus its super inexpensive!

2. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

Maybelline and I obviously had a great year as far as concealers on concerned. This concealer was a life savor this year when I was working on the film. I got maybe 5 hours of sleep a night for 7 weeks and it was showing on my face. This concealer is incredible and it definitely covers my under eye circles. This one  is pretty much empty and I will be repurchasing next time I go to the drug store.

3. Inglot Brow Powder and Brow Gel

I discovered Inglot this year and I must say I am very impressed with there brow products. This is all I use for my brows and as you can tell I have already hit pan on the powder. Not only are these amazing products but they are really well priced! I believe these two were $6 each. They last all day long and I will be repurchasing these soon.

4. N.Y.C Sunny Bronzer

I really enjoy this bronzer. I am very fair so this shade works great to just add a warm glow with out making me look over bronzed or orange. I have used this a ton this year and at just under $4 you can't go wrong.

 5. Marc Jacobs Lolita Palette

I love this Marc Jacobs palette so much. I went out and purchased this the day it launched in Sephora. I think this is a great palette for neutral lovers. It is also really portable and has a great mirror for on the go. I love that it has three matte shades and four shimmer shades. It is so versatile. I used this palette almost every day for months after purchasing it.

6. theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer

First off how freakin cute is this packaging? I discovered this brand this year and I am obsessed with so many of there products. All of the packaging is amazing. This highlight is so great for my complexion. It is not to yellow or to pink and it adds a gorgeous glow with out turning your face into a disco ball. I love this highlight and with the amount of product you get, it will last you for YEARS.

Before I move on let me just say that I have recently been obsessed with blushes. I have a lot of favorites this year!

7. NARS Blush in "Dolce Vita"
I seriously love everything about this blush. The shade is perfect, the lasting power is amazing, and I love NARS packaging. I seriously love the "Dolce Vita" shade line. I have the lipstick and the chubby lip pencil and they are also both incredible. Well done NARS!!

8. theBalm Cabanna Boy Blush

I used this blush every day for probably 3 weeks after purchasing it. I love the warm glow that this gives my fair skin. I usually pair this with a berry toned lip. It has a slight shimmer to it as well! This will be a blush I will keep in my personal collection for a very long time.

9. theBalm Instain blush in "Lace"

I though this blush was going to be slightly out of my comfort zone. Little did I know, this is such a wearable color. I love wearing this blush because it brightens up my face and I feel more alive! The "instain" blush line is full of amazing colors and I am so looking forward to trying more!

10. Diorshow Mascara in "Blackout"

I have never been one to purchase high end mascaras but I heard great things about this one and decided to try it. I am so glad I did. I am obsessed with this mascara and I will always have this in my collection. It makes my lashes so much thicker and adds length. I do not think I have worn false lashes at all since owning this. I am so in love and I am so happy to have discovered this.

11. Benefit "Powderflage"

This is a finely milled powder that has a slightly pink tone to it. I have used this almost every single day this year to set my under eye concealer. I believe this product is only sold on line now. I am almost finished with this product and I will absolutely purchase it again.  If you have not found the perfect under eye setting powder you should try this one!!

12. Dior Lipstick in shade 578

I received this product as a "500 point perk" at Sephora this year. I absolutely love this shade. It is a muted bright pink with a slight sheen. The second I use this sample size up, I am going to go out and buy the full sized product. It is such a fun flirty color and I just love it :)

13. Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

I purchased this palette only to compare it to the 1st and 3rd. I did not think I was really even going to wear it that much. Little did I know it would move to my most worn palette. I have used this palette so much since purchasing it. I use it even more than the Naked 3. I think she shade range is beautiful and the palette is full of colors that work as "one shadow looks" for your eyes. I also use the two deepest shades as liner all of the time. I love the packaging and the mirror as well. I am so happy that I own it :)

14. NYX Butter Gloss in "Tiramisu"

This has quickly become my go to gloss. The texture of these are actually buttery feeling. These glosses are not sticky and they feel so nice on the lips. I love this pinky neutral shade to wear over colors or on its own.  I will be purchasing the other shades as soon as I can find them in stores!

15. NARS Matte Lip Pencil in "Dolce Vita"

I am actually obsessed with this product. This is a "pro makeup kit favorite". I have used this pencil on like 85% of my clients that I have worked with since purchasing this product. It is the perfect shade for a "my lips but better" look. It photographs beautifully and looks amazing on film. I have recommended this shade to so many people. It is a must have for any professional makeup artist and for any actress that does TV/ film work!

16. Lorac Pro Palette

Can you tell this palette has been loved? It is already so beaten up because I use it so often. This is another "pro makeup kit favorite". I love every single shade in this palette. They are so pigmented and soft. These shades blend so well together and with other shadows. This palette has been used a ton and will continue to be used. It is also a must have for EVERYONE :)

17. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder "Ethereal Light"

This powder is absolutely stunning. I use this a lot when I do  head shots because when this is photographed it makes the skin look so even and flawless. These are very expensive but well worth the money. I apply this product all over the face when I am finished doing the makeup. It is more of a finishing powder than a setting powder.  I am going to buy "Dim Light" and "Luminous Light" ASAP. I really do love this and highly recommend it to any makeup artist or makeup lover!

I hope you all have enjoyed this blog as much as I have. If you have any product you want me to review please let me know!

I love you all so much and thanks for one year of amazing blogness :) :) :)

I hope this was helpful!
